Francisco Simões

Francisco Simões also known as Francisco de Almada was born in 1946 in Almada. He took the course of the School of Decorative Arts António Arroio in 1965 and the Sculpture course of the Academy of Music and Fine Arts of Madeira in 1974.

In 1967 he was an OECD fellow in Rome, Turin, Novara, Verona and Milan and the following year he worked at the Louvre at the invitation of Germain Bazin. In 1989 he was appointed by the Ministry of Education as a Visual Arts Consultant for the project Cultura begins at the School, in 1990 he was a collaborator of JL (Journal of Arts, Arts and Ideas) and in 1992 he was appointed by the Ministry of Education of the Working Group on Humanization and Aesthetic Valuation of Educational Environments. In 1996, Laranjeiro Secondary School started to have its name, as homage. He lives and works in Sintra since 1991.
